Lexington KY Dig Barriers
Groundhogs, chipmunks, and skunks are three Lexington KY resident species that may burrow under and around our homes, decks, patios, sheds, barns, concrete steps and walkways, driveways, and three and four season rooms. Other species including snakes, rodents, opossums, raccoons, foxes, etc may also later use burrows vacated by their original excavator.
Tolerating the presence of these animals is of course at the property owner’s discretion, for example groundhogs burrowing under an old barn in the back 40 may be okay, but a skunk living under your front steps has got to go! However, what’s often the greater concern is how animal burrows can unsettle the overlying structure by removing the underlying subgrade and earth, and may allow water intrusion in ways damaging to structures.
There is a solution! In concert with removing the problem animal(s) a dig barrier may be installed providing long-term resolution of the issue. Available in multiple styles for a variety of applications, all accomplish creating a subterranean metal fence excluding animal access to the underside of the protected structure.
Here is an example of a dig barrier installation around a Lexington resident’s deck and screen room providing a permanent solution to an ongoing animal intrusion issue:
